I Love You Santa.

I've been an assistant for the Big Elf for 40 years here in the Lower Forty-Eight. At this time of year it's hard for him to make all of his engagements, so he depends on people like me to fill in on occasion.

Last night I was appearing at a local church. We were having a blast. Lots of kids were getting pictures with Santa. Near the end one little girl (I'll call her Emma) came back. What happened next was a first in all the years I've been doing this.

"What do YOU want for Christmas, Santa?" she asked.

I thought for a moment.

"I want peace, joy, love and happiness for everyone," I replied.

"I think we can have that if we all just believed in you and kept you in our hearts," she replied.

I managed to retain most of my composure as she gave me a hug. There was just a few kids left. I finished and began the walk down the hall to my changing room.

I heard the sound of footsteps running down the hall behind me, accompanied by "Santa!"

It was Emma. I turned around, scooped her up, and gave her a big hug.

"I love you Santa."

"I love you too, Emma. Keep Santa in your heart, and he'll always be with you."

Merry Christmas Everyone.
