My Internet Nation.

I guess I was a little late getting into the online world.

I first joined the masses on AOL around 1999, when I went back to school to begin my Bachelor's in American Studies. I've been online ever since.

I became a Facebooker back in February 2009. Most of my FB friends are family members. A lot of what's left are coworkers, old friends, etc. and a few are other folks from all over the country and around the world.

By delving into social media my world, and my global outlook, has broadened. I have acquaintances there that are of a variety of religious and political persuasions. People of various socioeconomic backgrounds. World travelers, and folks who never venture more that a few miles from home.

I seek to be understood, which means I first must understand. As I attempt to understand I also have to, occasionally, cull the herd on my Facebook page. I don't tolerate rude behavior.

I have one simple rule: Don't insult any of my other friends, or me. Instead, let's engage in some good, healthy debate. Once we lower ourselves to nothing but name calling things tend to degenerate fairly quickly. I seek to understand. I'll probably never change your mind on something, and you may not ever change mine, but I feel understanding where the other person is coming from is the key.

We're all put on this earth for a reason. We're all brothers and sisters. With a little love, patience, and understanding, we can conquer anything.
